Magalang
The Scenic Gateway to Mt. Arayat & Heritage Flavors
Our Beginnings
Founded in 1605, Magalang is one of the oldest towns in Pampanga. Its name is derived from the Kapampangan word for "respectful" (*magalang*), a trait the locals carry to this day. Throughout history, its fertile lands at the foot of the mountains made it a center for agriculture, specifically sugar and rice, fueling the province's economy for centuries.
Magalang is the guardian of the legendary Mt. Arayat. Beyond the mountains, the town is famous for its sweet heritage, particularly its traditional *pastillas* and *yema*, which have been crafted by local families for generations using heirloom recipes that remain unmatched in the region.
The Magalang Lifestyle
Life in Magalang moves at a gentler pace. It is the destination for those seeking a "farm-to-table" lifestyle, home to hidden garden cafes, agricultural universities, and breathtaking sunset views of the mountain. Whether you’re a hiker tackling the trails of Arayat or a foodie looking for the best *carabeef* dishes, Magalang offers a peaceful escape with a deeply rooted sense of community.
