Our Beginnings

Angeles City’s story began in 1796 when Don Angel Pantaleon de Miranda and his wife, Doña Rosalia de Jesus, cleared a settlement known as Culiat. What started as a small woodland clearing eventually transformed into a bustling center of trade and agriculture, standing resilient through the centuries—from the Spanish colonial era to the post-war boom.

In the mid-20th century, the city’s identity was forever shaped by its proximity to Clark Air Base, creating a unique fusion of Kapampangan heritage and international influence. Today, it stands as a highly urbanized city that honors its past through preserved heritage sites while leading the province into a modern, cosmopolitan future.
